Keep the record free.
The public record serves every reader and costs money to run: hosting, verification, drift watch, the archive. Sustaining supporters keep it free, independent, and permanent.
How the record is funded
Once publishing opens, workspace subscriptions fund the public record. Until then there is no revenue, and the work is funded by the people who want the record to exist. Support pays for infrastructure and for the people building it.
What support cannot buy
Supporting never touches a record. A supporter’s record, seal, history, and verdict are identical to anyone else’s, and supporter status never appears on a record, a verify page, or the index. Organizations are welcome to support the record. It buys nothing a reader can see.
Open books
Support will run through Open Collective. Every dollar in and every dollar out will be public, including what the people building this are paid. A public record of publishing standards should keep its own books in public.
If we ever go away
The record is built to outlive us. Every record will be exportable, the full history will be published as open data, and the record will be mirrored to the Internet Archive. If Publishing Policy winds down, the record does not.

Supporters who opt in will be named here: individuals and organizations, one list, no tiers. Recognition lives on this page and nowhere else.
